About this tool

The Internet Speed Test measures the download speed, latency and jitter of your connection, from your device to the server that hosts this website. It is free, runs entirely in your browser, and takes under a minute. If you are on a Cambodian mobile plan or home fibre, this tells you whether the speed you pay for is the speed you get — and it gives you concrete numbers to show your ISP when it is not.

How it works

Press Start. The tool first sends several tiny requests to measure latency (ping) and jitter — the variation between responses. It then downloads files of increasing size (1, 5 and 10 MB) with fresh requests so the slow start of the connection does not skew the result, and reports the combined throughput in Mbps. Download speed is how fast your connection receives data; latency is how fast a single request gets a response. The test stops at any point if you cancel it.

Frequently asked questions

  • What speed do I need for common uses?

    Facebook video and TikTok work well from about 5 Mbps. YouTube 1080p needs roughly 5–10 Mbps. Zoom and Google Meet work from about 2–4 Mbps up and down. Online games need little bandwidth but low latency — under 50 ms is good. For a whole household, 30 Mbps or more is comfortable.

  • What is the difference between Mbps and MB/s?

    Mbps is megabits per second; MB/s is megabytes per second. There are 8 bits in a byte, so 100 Mbps equals about 12.5 MB/s. If a download shows 12.5 MB/s and your plan says 100 Mbps, those are the same speed — the units are the most common source of confusion in speed tests.

  • Why are my results different on mobile and at different times?

    Mobile speeds depend on the 4G/5G signal where you stand, how many people share the cell, and the time of day. Home internet is usually most congested in the evening. For a fair test, run it a few times, on the same device, at different hours.

  • Why is my measured speed lower than my plan?

    Your plan is the maximum speed to the network — not a guarantee. Wifi distance, router age, an old phone, and the site you are testing against all lower the number. Before calling the ISP: test on a cable connection (not wifi), restart the router, and test against several servers.

  • Why is there no upload speed?

    A static website has no place to receive your data, so upload cannot be measured against this server. This tool measures download and latency only. Video calls need upload too — typically 2–4 Mbps is enough.
