About this tool
Every Cambodian mobile number starts with a two- or three-digit prefix that reveals which operator issued it — and this page lists all 34 of them in one place. The Cambodia Phone Prefixes tool groups every prefix by network — Smart Axiata, Cellcard, Metfone and Seatel — so you can answer "which network is this number?" in one glance instead of hunting through four provider websites. Type a prefix or an operator name into the search box to filter the table, or paste a complete phone number in local (0xx xxx xxx) or international (+855) format and the tool highlights the network it was issued to. Each prefix also shows how the number is written dialled inside Cambodia and from abroad, which matters when you save contacts for roaming or hand a number to someone overseas. It covers mobile prefixes only — fixed-line area codes and special service numbers are outside its scope — and because Cambodia supports number portability, a prefix identifies the issuing network, not necessarily the one a subscriber uses today.
How it works
The table is generated from a single prefix dataset shared inside the platform: each operator’s assigned prefix codes are stored once in a canonical data module and grouped by network, so this page always lists the same allocation CambodiaChoice uses for its own prefix pages. Typing in the search box filters the rows in the browser — digits match prefix codes, letters match operator names. Pasting a full phone number strips everything except digits; a leading 855 is treated as the country code and replaced with the domestic trunk 0, then the first matching prefix decides the operator shown. Each row displays the prefix as dialled inside Cambodia (for example 012 xxx xxx) and the international form with the leading 0 dropped in favour of +855 (+855 12 xxx xxx). One prefix, Cellcard’s 092, is marked postpaid; every other code is prepaid. No data leaves your device — filtering and number detection run entirely on the page.
Use cases
- Someone in Phnom Penh receives a missed call from 088 and wants to confirm it is a Metfone number before calling back
- A shop owner saving a supplier’s number checks whether to write it as 077 or +855 77 for a foreign colleague
- A prepaid top-up seller confirms a customer’s 098 number is on Smart before selling a Smart scratch card
- An expat comparing SIM cards wants to see every prefix each Cambodian operator currently issues
- A parent checks whether the unknown 070 number texting their child belongs to a real mobile network
- An office admin building a contact sheet standardises every local number to the +855 format for overseas partners
Frequently asked questions
Which network does a Cambodian phone number belong to?
Look at the digits right after the trunk 0: a number starting 012 was issued by Cellcard, 010 or 081 by Smart, 088 by Metfone and 018 by Seatel. This page lists every assigned prefix grouped by operator, so the match takes one search — type the prefix digits or the operator’s name and the table filters to it. Paste a whole number and the tool detects the operator for you.
Does the prefix always show the network a number uses today?
No. Cambodia supports mobile number portability, so a subscriber can keep a 012 number after moving to a different operator. A prefix identifies the network that originally issued the number, not necessarily the one currently serving it. Treat the result as the issuing network — for anything that depends on the live carrier, such as on-net bundle pricing, confirm with the operator directly.
Is this an official list from the telecom regulator?
The table reproduces the prefix allocations the Telecommunication Regulator of Cambodia publishes for the four active mobile operators — Smart, Cellcard, Metfone and Seatel — but this page is a reference tool, not the regulator’s own site. It is a static list maintained with the site, so a brand-new allocation could take a short while to appear; for anything legally critical, check the TRC’s published list directly.
How do I write a Cambodian number for someone calling from abroad?
Drop the trunk 0 and add the country code +855. A local number written 012 345 678 becomes +855 12 345 678, and 081 234 567 becomes +855 81 234 567. Every prefix on this page shows both forms — the local dialling format used inside Cambodia and the international format your overseas contacts should save.
Does this list cover landlines and special service numbers?
No — only mobile prefixes. Cambodian fixed-line numbers use province-based area codes (Phnom Penh landlines start 023, for example), and short codes such as 1xxx service numbers are not mobile prefixes either. If a number does not begin with one of the prefixes listed here, it is not a standard Cambodian mobile number.
How many mobile phone operators are there in Cambodia?
Four operators hold active mobile allocations: Smart Axiata with 11 prefixes, Cellcard with 13, Metfone with 9 and Seatel with 1 — 34 prefixes in total. Older brands such as qb and Beeline once held prefixes, but those networks no longer operate, so their codes do not appear in the current allocation table.
Data and accuracy
Static allocation table maintained inside the platform and shared with CambodiaChoice (the cambodia-mobile-prefixes module in @inventodia/data-static): 34 mobile prefixes across Smart, Cellcard, Metfone and Seatel, matching the allocation list published by the Telecommunication Regulator of Cambodia. The list ships with the codebase — there is no live query to the regulator — so a newly allocated prefix appears after the next data update.
