About this tool
This Khmer image to text converter lets you extract Khmer text from photos—documents, menus, signs, receipts, or screenshots. It’s a Khmer text scanner online free: upload or paste an image and the tool uses OCR to read the text. You can copy text from image Khmer to your clipboard, translate Khmer picture to English in one click, or paste into Telegram. No account needed; everything runs in your browser. Use it for accurate Khmer text recognition from printed or handwritten sources. Ideal for travelers, students, and anyone working with Khmer documents—extract text from a menu photo, a street sign, or a receipt and edit the result before translating or sharing. Each extraction is kept as a separate output so you can process multiple images in one session and remove any result you don’t need.
How it works
Upload an image by clicking the drop zone or pasting from your clipboard. Supported formats include JPEG, PNG, WebP, and GIF; maximum file size is 10 MB. The tool runs Tesseract.js in your browser for Khmer font OCR to recognize Khmer (and English) text. Once extraction finishes, the text appears in an editable box. Fix any recognition errors, then use "Translate to English" to translate Khmer picture to English, or "Copy for Telegram" to copy text from image Khmer. The translation step is optional and uses the same API as our Khmer-to-English translator. You can run the tool multiple times: each new image adds a new output (Output #1, #2, …) so previous results are not overwritten. Use the delete control on any output to remove it from the list.

Frequently asked questions
How accurate is the Khmer OCR?
Accuracy depends on image quality, Khmer font clarity, and lighting. Clear, well-lit photos of printed Khmer text usually give good results for accurate Khmer text recognition. Handwritten or low-resolution images may need more manual editing after extraction.
What is the maximum image size?
Images must be 10 MB or smaller. If your file is larger, compress or resize it before uploading. The tool shows the file name and size after you select an image.
Can I extract Khmer text from scanned PDF?
Yes. Take a screenshot of the PDF page or export a page as an image, then upload it here. The Khmer image to text converter will extract Khmer text from the image. For locked PDFs, screenshot the visible page and use this tool to get the text.
Is my image sent to a server?
OCR runs entirely in your browser using Tesseract.js, so your image is not uploaded for the extraction step. If you use "Translate to English", the extracted text is sent to our translation service to produce the English version.
What image formats are supported?
You can upload or paste JPEG, PNG, WebP, and GIF images. For best Khmer font OCR results, use clear, high-contrast images with readable Khmer or mixed Khmer–English text.
Can I process more than one image?
Yes. Each time you upload or paste an image, a new output is added to the list (Output #1, Output #2, …). You can edit, translate, or copy each result separately and delete any output you no longer need.
Can I use this as a Khmer OCR Telegram bot?
This is a web-based Khmer text scanner online free—you upload in the browser and can copy the result to paste into Telegram. We don’t run a separate Telegram bot; you get the same extract-and-copy workflow for use in any app.
Data and accuracy
OCR is performed in the browser by Tesseract.js (Khmer and English language data) for accurate Khmer text recognition. Translation to English uses the same API as our Khmer-to-English translator. No image data is stored on our servers for the OCR step. Maximum file size for uploads is 10 MB.
