Estimate your EDC (Electricite du Cambodge) electricity bill based on monthly kWh usage. Supports residential, commercial, medium-voltage, and industrial tariffs with progressive tier breakdown in KHR and USD.

EDC Electricity Bill Calculator

Estimate your EDC (Electricite du Cambodge) electricity bill based on monthly kWh usage.

Enter your monthly kWh usage and click Calculate.

About this tool

The EDC Electricity Bill Calculator helps you estimate your monthly Electricite du Cambodge (EDC) electricity bill based on your kilowatt-hour (kWh) usage. EDC uses a progressive tiered tariff for residential customers — the more you consume, the higher the per-kWh rate. This tool supports residential, commercial (medium voltage and 22kVA), and industrial (22kVA) customer categories, with a transparent per-tier breakdown in both Cambodian Riel (KHR) and US Dollars (USD).

How it works

EDC bills residential customers using four progressive tiers: Tier 1 (1–10 kWh) at 380 KHR/kWh — a subsidized rate for low-usage households; Tier 2 (11–50 kWh) at 480 KHR/kWh; Tier 3 (51–200 kWh) at 610 KHR/kWh; and Tier 4 (201+ kWh) at 730 KHR/kWh. The calculator applies each tier only to the kWh falling within that band, then sums the cost. Commercial customers pay a flat rate: 540 KHR/kWh for medium voltage or 636 KHR/kWh for 22kVA connections. Industrial customers (22kVA) pay 440 KHR/kWh. USD conversion uses the live NBC exchange rate when available, falling back to a fixed indicative rate of 4,100 KHR/USD. These rates were confirmed unchanged for 2024 by the Electricity Authority of Cambodia (EAC).

Use cases

  • Households budgeting monthly electricity costs based on expected usage
  • Tenants verifying that landlord electricity charges match official EDC rates
  • Small business owners estimating commercial electricity expenses
  • Property managers comparing residential vs. commercial tariff categories
  • New residents in Cambodia understanding how progressive billing works

Frequently asked questions

  • Are these the official EDC electricity rates?

Yes. The residential tiered rates (380, 480, 610, 730 KHR/kWh) and commercial/industrial rates (540, 636, 440 KHR/kWh) are based on the EAC tariff announcement confirmed unchanged for 2024. The source is the Electricity Authority of Cambodia (EAC), as reported by the Phnom Penh Post in December 2023.

  • Why is my real EDC bill different from this estimate?

This calculator estimates the energy charge only. Your actual EDC bill may include additional charges such as meter rental, capacity charges, VAT, or other fees depending on your connection type and locality. Some rural areas served by private licensees (not EDC directly) may have different rates. Always refer to your actual EDC bill for the definitive amount.

  • Which customer category should I choose?

Most households should select "Residential." If you are a business with a commercial meter, choose "Commercial" (22kVA, the most common commercial connection) or "Medium Voltage" if your premises use a medium-voltage transformer. Factories and industrial facilities should select "Industrial." If you are unsure, check your EDC bill or contact EDC directly.

  • How does the progressive residential tariff work?

EDC charges residential customers in tiers: the first 10 kWh per month are billed at the lowest rate (380 KHR/kWh), the next 40 kWh (11–50) at 480 KHR, the next 150 kWh (51–200) at 610 KHR, and any usage above 200 kWh at 730 KHR/kWh. This means higher consumption leads to a higher average price per kWh, encouraging energy conservation.

  • Does the calculator include VAT or other taxes?

No. The calculator shows the energy charge only, based on the published EDC tariff rates. VAT, meter rental, and other surcharges that may appear on your actual bill are not included. Treat the result as an estimate of the energy portion of your bill.
