About this tool
The Loan Calculator helps you estimate monthly payments and total interest for a loan in Cambodia. Whether you are borrowing in Cambodian Riel (KHR) or US Dollars (USD), you can enter the loan amount, term in months or years, and annual interest rate to see your estimated monthly payment, total cost, and total interest. Optional fields let you add extra monthly payments and an origination fee so you can compare different scenarios. This tool is useful for personal loans, vehicle or moto financing, home loans, or any fixed-rate loan. Results update as you change the inputs, and you can view a full amortization schedule to see how each payment splits between principal and interest. No signup is required; all calculations run in your browser.
How it works
Enter the loan amount (principal), choose the term in years or months, and enter the annual interest rate. The calculator uses standard amortization formulas to compute the fixed monthly payment. You can optionally add an extra monthly payment to see how it shortens the term and reduces total interest, and an origination fee (as a percentage of the loan) which is added to the principal. Results show estimated monthly payment, total amount paid, and total interest. Use "Show amortization schedule" to see a month-by-month breakdown and export it as CSV.
Use cases
- Comparing loan offers from banks or microfinance institutions in Cambodia
- Planning a personal or business loan in KHR or USD
- Seeing how extra payments reduce total interest and payoff time
- Checking the impact of an origination fee on monthly payments
- Reviewing an amortization schedule before signing a loan
- Teaching or explaining how loan payments and interest work
Frequently asked questions
How is the monthly payment calculated?
The calculator uses the standard amortization formula for a fixed-rate loan: your monthly payment is computed so that after all payments, the loan balance is zero. It accounts for interest on the remaining balance each month.
Can I use this for loans in Riel and USD?
Yes. Choose Currency (Riel or USD) at the top; all amounts and results are then shown in that currency. The math is the same; only the display currency changes.
What is the amortization schedule?
The amortization schedule is a table showing each payment date, how much goes to principal vs interest, and the remaining balance. You can open it from the results panel and export it as CSV.
Does the calculator include fees or insurance?
You can add an optional origination fee (percentage of the loan), which is added to the principal. Other fees or insurance are not included; add them separately if needed.
Data and accuracy
The Loan Calculator uses only the values you enter. It does not fetch interest rates or loan products from banks. For current rates, check with your bank or lender in Cambodia.
